Just sayin': Cake Wreck

Ah crap. Look what happened to the cake I baked my neighbors for National Night out!

In the fridge, a precarious cake edge collapsed. Le Sigh. I knew I shouldn't have put that layer on the top. Normally I would never dare show my cake, or my face, in public ever again. But meh. When your cake is a wreck, the least you can do is wreck it in style. How do you like me now:

I have been very boring lately, it's true. It's just that I mostly feel eaten alive when I come home from work at night, and the weekends have been filled with the tending of two different gardens. Thankfully, it's farmshare time again. I cooked things! And soon again I will tell you how I made things.

Beet Reuben: grilled Swiss cheese on pumpernickel with sauerkraut, hard-boiled egg, roasted beet, and Thousand Island dressing.

Caprese salad with three kinds of tomato, homegrown basil, and Valli dell’Etna “Etna Dario” olive oil; peppers, zucchini, and eggplant sautéed with garlic and onions.

Grilled salmon; romaine salad with strawberries, lavender, rosemary, and balsamic vinaigrette; fresh bread with olive oil, sea salt, and cracked pepper.
